Jackie Chan made a hysterical appearance on the Graham Norton Show that fans won’t soon forget. In a fantastically comedic moment, he suddenly became more relatable to his fans as he relived the awkward moment when he met the queen.
Proceeding his fabulously funny reenactment of what it was like to meet the Queen, he and Graham Norton were laughing about how everyone does random Kung Fu moves every time his name is mentioned. They were poking fun at how he is so closely associated with his art, that people gesture in that manner at the mere introduction of his name. That made his re-telling of his “meeting the Queen” story even more comical, as he described himself as being awkward, nervous, and not at all sophisticated. That’s quite the contrast from the version of Jackie Chan we all know and love.
Jackie Chan put his wits on full display on The Graham Norton Show. He humbly joked about making a total fool of himself when he met the Queen of England. In spite of being a massive Hollywood star for much of his life, and being around celebrities and iconic figures during much of this time, he was just not able to keep himself properly composed with the Queen.
The action star speaks many languages, including Cantonese, Korean, German, Korean, Mandarin, Japanese, Spanish, and Thai, but there were apparently no words in the English language that could be produced during this monumental moment. He says he stood there and his mind “was empty”.
Of course, when a situation as impactful as this one goes as wrong as it did, it seems to be a downward spiral that continuously gets worse. We’ve all experienced this in one instance or another.
After admitting that this happened years ago and his English wasn’t on par with what it is today, Jackie Chan declared that he witnessed the Queen pass one person after another with a visit that was nothing more than a pause.
He thought he was off the hook as he expected the same shortstop when his turn came around, but he became speechless when she stood in front of him, proceeded with an awkward bow, and stumbled and fumbled to come up with something… as the Queen… still… stood there!
Chan wanted her to “go away, go away, leave me alone, go away please, don’t talk to me anymore,” stating “I don’t know how to answer back.” Putting ourselves in his shoes, what would we tell the Queen?
